did apple disable the screenshot feature in 3.1.2? or is my 3GS just buggy?

well i was trying to to take a screenshot of my screen by pressing the sleep and power button at the same time and all it does is turn my phone off and bring up the lockscreen.

am i missing something here? or am i going to have to restore?

thing is this is comming from a DFU/recovery mode restore and set up as a new phone no back ups nothing.

i did some searching (maybe not enough) but i didnt find anything regarding my question

Just reboot your phone (hold power button and home) it should solve it well did for me.

Sounds like you are not doing it correctly. Hold the home button down first then just click the power button once (If you hold it down you will turn off the iPhone).
