The new 27 inch imac which starts at $1699 is $100 cheaper than the old 30 inch apple cinema display dated from 2004. I just bought an 8 core 2.66ghz mac pro with two video cards and need 4 displays. could I just get the cheaper 27 inch imacs, which also have a built in computer, to use as my 4 monitors and save $400?🙂

I think u can do that, at least i read it on the apple sight somewhere. wouldn't it be cheaper to get some generic display?

I need the resolution of the apple displays and no it does not say anywhere on the apple site that it is compatible with the mac pro. I am really looking for someone who HAS at least one 27 inch imac and a mac pro to try this out.
