What type of connection does the Xserve use for its removable hard drives? My dad and I want to make an external drive reader for Xserve hard drives (basically a Firewire Xserve RAID but only with 1 drive).

Actually, it uses some proprietary Apple Harddisk Connection to make it hot swappable. They call it a "Serial ATA Apple Drive Module"

It should be easy to remove the sata drive from apple's mounting module and use it normally in your drive reader from there.

Thanks for the help. When I get time off from the zoo (they have me working 3 or more 12 hour days a week), I am going to make this.
