Upgrading to Windows7 and ram?

Would I see a big increase in game playability if I upgraded my bootcamp from xp to 7 and increased my ram from 2gb to 4gb? Also how else could I improve my gaming experience. The mac guy said Empire:Total War should run quite perfectly on my system (2.26ghz MBP) yet I have to turn alot of the graphics down for it to not run so choppy.

Windows 7 won't give you better performance, if anything it will run a little worse. Upgrading the RAM is never a bad idea, but I don't think you'd see much performance gain.

From what I've read W7 runs faster than Vista with a smaller footprint, however whether that results in better gaming performance is questionable. The articles I've read basically say no real improvement in game performance. However, doubling your RAM from 2 to 4 GB can have a significant, but not a guaranteed impact on game performance. It just depends. For example in a game like WoW in the MacOS extra RAM can supposedly improve frame rates in high player concentration areas like Dalaran. On my dual 1.8GB G5, going from 1GB to 2GB RAM improved Dalaran so that it was no longer a slideshow, but it was still slow there in the range of 5-10fps. But that is much better than 1-2fps.

For Win 7, 2 GB would be a minimum. While it depends on the game, I bet you will notice a jump in performance if you went up to 4 GB. I think it also makes a difference in OS X to make that same jump in ram. Again, it all depends on what you're doing. For gaming, I think one would see an impact.

Have you downloaded the latest drivers from your graphics card manufacturers website? The ones Apple include are old and perform poorly in comparison.
