Will somebody please post pictures, videos, results of this episode for those of us not located in the UK? I am *very* interested to see how my PowerBook would react if dropped from that distance! ;)

I think that they should drop this guy from the balcony at the same time. That is no way to treat a Mac.

Sounds like dropping a fat guy and an olympic athlete off a high building to see who is in better shape.

Perhaps a drop of a couple of feet would be better?!?

LOL... that's only funny because your analogy is so accurate.

Perhaps a couple of feet *would* be better.

Well, although it was fairer than a lot of Mac vs PC "comparisons" it wasn't very good. For one they kept harping on about how much more macs cost than PC's. They really wouldn't let it drop.

Test 1:
Member of the public to unbox, set-up and get to a website with a Mac and PC. The Mac won hands down, I believe it was something like 13 minutes to 30 minutes, that area anyway. She said "the Mac wins hands-down, plus it looks really sexy".

Test 2:
UT2003 frame-rate benchmark. I presume they had the latest patches, mac got about 100fps the PC 200 fps.
Also, Photoshop. One image, one filter. PC won on time taken but commentator noted the Mac produced a much cleaner image. He was genuinely astounded that the Mac didn't win, really really shocked.

Test 3:
Drop a PC and a G4 from 25ft, see which survives. Neither did, but he "repaired" the PC with a £65 motherboard from PCWorld, the Mac needed 3 days at a repair center and estimated cost was £400 for new motherboard. This highlights a problem with Apple product repair, but what annoyed me was aside from an invisible fault on the Mac mother-board, everything else was perfectly fine. The PC on the other hand was scrap, the case was blown out, the CD & DVD drives were complete trash as they had been broken open. Floppy drive toast. The final cost would have been well above £65. The Mac on the other hand just lost one (yes just one) of the plastic covers that goes in-front of the CD bezel. There was a little case warping too, but nothing like the PC.

Overall: PC wins for cost, repair ease and performance.

I watched this to and really wish i hadn't, the guy presenting after the insane drop test(we all of course drop our comps off balconys) diagnosed a motherboard fault with his xray vision on the G4 and as applematt said fixed the PC for 65 quid! pull the other one mate

NO mention of potential Virus/spyware problems on the PC

Mocked the g5 dual in the photoshop test BUT then didn't try to test or mention any apps that would show the mp advantages

Neglected to say what the specs of the PC they used in the gaming test were, what vid card, memory? clock speed? "comparble" he said..right

TO cap it all off, they actually went to PC world to show the macs

Has anyone ever tried to buy a mac from PC world? I tried when the imacs first come out and was ignored for 30mins then the salesman tried to sell me a PC!

Utter BS..sorry for the rant this stuff just makes me

The guy was probably payed by some PC place to bad-mouth the mac. I'm glad I didn't see it. Sounds very one-sided...very un-fair...very stupid

you know, i really don't care if the general public doesn't like macs. if they want vaporware windows, then let them have what they want. i won't stop an idiot from buying a pc.

Just to let you know the PC that they were using did have the advantage of two raptors in Raid 0 (FYI 15,000 RPM Drives in such a configuration should really of been mentioned on the show)
