Which one is a better investment? I currently have a Canon HV30 (basically brand new) that's great and I've only used it a handful of times, but I'd love to go tapeless if the quality will be the same. Any thoughts? Thanks!

go for the HF series. it works very well i have the HF S100. don't know if its the same series but mine works very well. 1080p 24mbps vids look great.
EDIT: i did some research. there seems to be few differences between the one i have and the HF200. the major dif seems to be a lack of digital zoom. that is the only one that stands out to me and the HF200 seems less compact than the HF S100 to me at least.

i have the HV30 and love it.
Shoots in low light super awesome.
compact.
I love miniDV for many reasons, so I think that's the really big thing you need to think about. Tape vs Flash... the debate goes on.

optics are awesome.
stabilization is great.

my buddy has a hf200 and he would get an HV30 if he had the chance.
