Apple Remote on Windows PC??

I am trying to improve the image of men using a remote, and I figured the best to do it was to use a truly simple/elegant remote control while watching movies on our computer.

The Apple Remote seems to fit the bill; only problem is we are Windows PC household.

Does anyone here know whether the Apple Remote can be used to control a Windows PC?
