On iMac G5 OS 10.5.8 trying to use a Logitech Wingman Extreme 3D which it said was Mac compatible on package but inside said; "We were kidding" (paraphrased) now for years I've tried to find a way to get it to work on G3's and now my new G5. Is there any hope? It does show up in the usb list. Thanks. PS Logitech can *&%)*^($& my (*&^*^%#&^%&^ they used to be a reliable Apple compatibility company.

Standard USB HID devices can interact with the system. Others (like a tablet) work for a few basic features but don't support anything else without drivers. You likely need drivers. Just out of curiosity, can you post the "we were kidding" language?

I have a Logitech Wingman Extreme 3D...works fine on Macs, always has, doesn't need any extra drivers.

All Logitech PC joysticks and pads conform to the HID spec and should work fine in games etc. If it does not work maybe the program you are trying to use it in does not recognise or does not support it?

I don't know of a unsupported Logitech device in OS X. The only thing that has been hit and miss is the rumble support that disappeared for a few revisions when Intel came out but that has returned again.

Finally do NOT install Gamepad companion if you are trying to use a pad/joystick with a game that supports joysticks it will just break the built in support in most cases.
