DVD player generating lots of noise

I recently purchased a refurbished g5 rev A. dual 1.8Ghz. The machine runs fine except for DVD player. Whenever I play a dvd, the screen gets covered in green noise. However, the same DVD will play perfectly in my iBook. Any guesses to what the problem might be would be appreciated.

That happened to me once, except the color was red, and it only happenend in one part of the movie. DVD Player seems to cause problems for lots of people. You could try playing the DVD in a different application, like Video LAN Client (you can find it on versiontracker if you don't already have it). Is it only on one DVD? or any DVD?
