Panther Problem

I just installed Panther on my 12" Powerbook (see signature), and now neither iChat or Mail will open a bit. This is frustrating because I use those programs a lot. I think this is really unusual...

Any ideas?

Did you apply all of the updates and repair permissions?

Did you fiddle with the Font Book? Do they work if you log in as another user (create one for testing if you don't have one)?
