Jailbreak on 3GS - Tether and VVM working ok?

I haven't been keeping up with jailbreak stuff for 3.1.2 since my 3.0.1 was doing everything I needed.... but... not any more.

I have a 3GS, JB on 3.0.1. I am using the BenM profile and found out my VVM isn't working. I've tried to fix it, but now my phone is messed up. I had categories installed and now after a 'reset all' my apps in category folders are missing. I think I need to do a clean install and re-jailbreak.

My question... is there a reliable JB for 3.1.2 that has tethering and allows VVM to work correctly?

may I suggest creating a custom .ipcc file instead of BenM help methods?

I previously use BenM but I find it stopping my mms setting whenever I have internet tethering.

in the end I found out the using a custom .ipcc file works the best and very easy too.

I guess since I'm already on AT&T I shouldn't use this.

I got my phone working ok. The VVM works, along with tethering and MMS. Not 100% how I fixed it... I did a few resets, etc and now everything seems OK.
