Syncing mail between 2 macs?

Anyone know of a way to have Mail sync between 2 macs. Id like to be able to check my mail on either my desktop or laptop and not leave messages on the server, but then have the machines sync with one another so they both have the same mail messages in the inbox.

Tiger will probably be the answer to that with .Mac syncing. But until then, set up your Mail on one computer to leave the message on the server, then the other to delete the message after a few days before deleting it from the server. Other than doing backups of your mail folder to the other computer everyday which will annoy you. Just do the leave on server for 5 days thing.

There is currently no way that I know of to do mail syncing as you're suggesting, so varmit's method above is the only solution I can think of as well. Just leave the messages on the server so they will always be accessible, and then either download the important ones or delete them after x number of days.

Tiger may indeed offer a solution to this problem though!

Wouldn't using an imap account provide this service?

With pop accounts, though, it's not really possible.

IMAP will do this. I have mail from 2 windows computers and 1 mac syncronizing mail. If I delete from one, it deletes from the others when I login. If your email provider doesn't offer an IMAP server, then there's not a great solution that I know of.

I use Mozilla Thunderbird (http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/) and synk (http://www.decimus.net/synk/) to synchronise messages between my desktop (a Windows machine) and my Powerbook. It's completely platform-independent , and will work fine Mac to Mac. All you need to do is copy the Thunderbird user data straight across, no need to worry about newer files or such because they're all compatible with one another.

Annoying thing is though, Thunderbird has too big a memory footprint for my liking of late...

fwiw- i would do as varmit recommended. no syncing required. no thinking either. no other *king words.
