Orange carrier update on Blacksn0w'd AT&T iphone?

Finally have everything up and running on my iPhone w/ Orange UK PAYG sim here in London. I went to sync my phone today and got a carrier update message. I didn't do it but wondering what would happen if I did. Had anyone else done it? Will it magically unlock my phone? lol. If I installed it, would I be able to go back to the AT&T carrier update when I get back to the states?

Yes, No and Yes 🙂 The carrier update will not affect your AT&T settings in the states, I've done something similar with my O2-locked iPhone, which allows me to use an Orange SIM, unlike you, I installed the carrier update, all it does is change the Orange font lol, well visually.
