Dear all,

Having bought my 12" pBook and having used it for a few days, I am now looking towards screen protection and keyboard protection. iSkin seems a superb solution for the keyboard. But are there any screen protectors which can stay permanently on the screen?

Specifically I am in the UK.

a) Where can I find a good online shop that sells the G4 iSkins at a decent price.
b) Ditto the above for a screen protector.

For the iSkins, www.lajo.biz does international orders -- they're shipped out of Hong Kong anyway via DHL, so I think should be as fine to UK as to anywhere else. Their prices are pretty good, though to be honest colors and variety are their strong suit....

The OP already found what he wanted, but to me, I go by this...its true that both sides make claims about ownership of the idea, etc. But since then, look who has done more to create more variety and options for customers? Lajo has created so many more colors, so many more styles, has done so much more for iPod and iBook accessorization. So whatever the tiff between them is, I think Lajo must have his heart in the right place....

That is more or less exactly what I am after. Anybody know of UK sources for such stuff? And how robust are these protectors? I would prefer some which do not need replacing often...

Yeah, I have one. They are a little on the expensive side for the minimum protection that they offer. I'd think you'd be better off with the sleeve from these guys; http://www.sfbags.com/

In saying that, the PowerSleevz is better looking.

No, no, we are getting off topic here! I am perfectly satisfied with a "case" for the laptop: which is why I settled for a School Hymn. I was looking for protection for the keyboard and screen during use. The iSkin covers the keyboard, so we have that covered. But an equivalent for the screen seems to be hard to find...

Honestly, I don't think you're going to have much luck finding them. They're not necessary for notebooks, they're only really useful for PDAs where you're constantly writing on the screen.

Unless you intend poking the screen a lot you don't need a screen protector with the keyboard protector. It'll also distort the screen slightly and be almost impossible to apply without producing bubbles. You're more likely to damage the screen trying to apply them, than though normal use. Trust me it's incredibly difficult to apply a screen protector on a 4" PDA screen, a 12" notebook screen would be a major PITA.

Get the sleev and scrren svr combo from the first link. They are robust. Though you might want a bag that isnt completely made of cloth only. Something with a little padding. Dont bother with spoecialist name brand bags (apple, mac etc) they will only get your bag nicked/ opened.

Well it seems I have the wrong idea about screen protection in that case... I was just worried about getting scrathes/dust/droplets on the screen. Any tips on how to regularly clean the screen apart from a damp soft cloth?

Just a damp soft cloth is probably the easiest solution to keep it clean and dust free. If you do need something stronger avoid window cleaners or anything with ammonia in it, they can cause the screen to yellow and become brittle.

iKlear (http://www.outpost.com/product/2755503) seems to be pretty popular, though there are numerous products that do a very similar job they should all be fine.
