Ok my wife is writing a childrens book. I am doing the photography part and she is doing the writing... part. I am looking for some good software to convert my digital pictures to sorta like cartoon characters, but still look like real kids. There is a post with a pic that has exactly what I am looking for, I PM'd the fella he is from the UK, I have not heard from him yet. I dont mind paying for software as she is going to write several books down the road. Thanks, Mike

The app is fully integrated into the Mac OS so you have the option of pulling in pics from iPhoto or any location in the finder. Great fun and easy to use, Just what you described needing to do. You can do this with Live Trace in Illustrator. You have a number of settings to choose from photo realistic to line drawings. You have to edit and color the result, but there is a Live Paint feature that simplifies this.
If that Brit you wanted to contact posted images of Michael Jackson, he may not be helpful. His technique received a rude reception in the Design and Graphics forum. That happens a lot and I don't post there anymore.
