I have mentioned this elsewhere, but I thought it needed updating.

I gave my wife my original 2G iPhone and on its 2nd anniversary (9th Nov here in the UK) it met what seemed to be an early demise. It had a full wash and spin in the washing machine! Came out pretty intact (small scratch only) but I thought completely dead. I dried out best as I could and it has sat in a bag of silica gel for over a week.

Thought I would try plugging in last night. iTunes saw the phone, serial number and all but wanted to do a full restore, clicked on OK and downloaded new update and it had a good go at installing the software but came up with an error message (not surprised about that!).

It does not seem to charge at all though. Maybe wait a bit longer and see what happens! Keep you posted. :(

Battery's probably toast... I'm amazed that you got it to do anything.

What error message?
