I will most likely be upgrading my Mac Pro on the next release. I'm am considering upgrading my card to the Quadro 4800 from the 8800.
I would then move the 4800 into the new machine- but is there rumor to a new/better card that may released in the near future?

Just making sure you are aware the Quadro isn't useful if you are only running OS X. The GTX 285 is faster in that case.

Using the two links below you can see how the GTX 285 and FX 4800 compare to the 8800GT. The 285 and 4800 are pretty much the same, the 285 has a newer revision of the GPU making it slightly faster and the 4800 has more memory, though the 285 has so much it makes little difference for most things. Under windows the optimized drivers the Quadros use can give huge performance benefits for certain applications.

Hopefully Apple will give it's customers a choice of some of these pro cards in the Gulftown updates.
