He bankrolled Space Ship One and the start of the Square Kilometre Array - my sort of philanthropist.Hope he comes through fighting fit.
Man that sucks for him and his family. The one thing he has going for him that most don't is money. He can buy the best specialists and most personal comfort. That goes a long way to how your recovery experience goes.
Yes, best wishes to Allen and his family. I look forward to the day when nobody has to fear cancer.
The Times has an article with a recent photo... was amazed to see how aged he looks since the last time I saw footage of him, when he was announced as backer of Burt Rutan's X-Prize team.

Hodgkin's lymphoma survivors do have a small risk (4-5% chance) of developing non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

This makes me so very sad. My cousin in Portugal had this nasty kind of cancer - the non type, which I believe is very had to treat. Sadly he passed away a few years back. We need a cure for this and other cancers. Why can't we target these cancers by medication that will kill these kind of cells?

No, there will never be a cure for cancer. His only solution for now or ever will only be chemo.
How many times have we heard that there's hope for curing cancer? That there's promising lab results in mice??? What about the progress about that promising HIV vaccine? What happened to that? How long have the research labs promised and not deliver? It's the pharmaceutical companies folks.
Do you know what I mean? There will never be "a cure" for any disease which they can generate the most money out of. At least that's how I understand of Western medicine.

Yep it is , All the best to him. Both my grandparents have had a form of cancer and are still here! So it can be beaten.
That's some crazy talk there. Let's say there was a cure for cancer, it would still be in the best interests of the pharm companies to release it to the public. One, it would be insanely good for the public image of the company, and two, once they released it, its not like people are going to stop getting cancer, there will always be people getting cancer, so there will always be drugs to sell.
Cancer is very complex. There are drugs that are very effective against some cancers, yet do nothing for others. All cancers are not equal.
Please, read up on it, or talk to an oncologist.
I remember watching ZDtv before it was TechTV and now The G4 Network, they would mention Paul Allen often on Leo Laportes Call for Help and The Screensavers, I miss those shows. I wish him the best.
