I got the 27" and I love it, I just really didn't want to wait for the quad core when I bought it. Would it be possible to buy an i5 and install it myself? Does the dual core iMac have the same socket as the quad? If this is possible, please let me know how i'd go about doing this. It'd be nice to stick the dual core in my old pc and give it a huge performance boost. =P

No, they use different sockets.

What about upgrading from the 256mb graphics to the 512mb card? Or more RAM? Which would improve performance in gaming like Cod4 or mw2 in bootcamp most?

More RAM would help and be easy to do. The graphics cards are not easily upgradeable either as they use a MXM socket and there aren't many choices, there are also voltage and and heat issues and the list goes on....
Gaming in Boot Camp is your best bet. You will get better performance and be able to play a lot more titles.

That's what I was afraid of. I don't know if this is a issue or not but it just doesn't seem right...when i'm running cod4 in online play I simply cannot play it maxed out, even if its the only program running and whatnot. It gets way too laggy. Anyone else experienced this? Doesn't seem right with 256mb of gddr3.
