Any way to record streaming audio?

Does anyone know how to record streaming audio on iTunes. A group I like (Gabriel & Dresden) is playing a set and I would like to record it so I can listen to it later (i.e., time-shifting, which is legal - think TiVo). If anyone knows how to record it, I appreciate any information you can share.

What you need is Audio hijack <http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/16382>. That will allow you to record any online audio stream and save it to disk where you can import it into iTunes.

I looked at that and also found a program called "wire tap" which is free. Is AH that much better (i.e., worth the $16)?

or you could just use a basic freeware audio app and record via line-in on your Mac, or PC if you have one.

The beauty of Audio Hijack Pro is that you can enhance and isolate the audio you are recording. It grabs the audio from a single app and ignores any other sounds from other apps. There are lots of filters you can use to tweak the sound on the fly as you record it, which can make streaming RealAudio files sound much better. You can also record directly to AIFF, MP3, AAC, Apple Lossless, and even bookmarkable AAC (like audiobooks purchased from the iTunes Music Store). Wiretap is fine if you just need to record something once, but if you record streaming or other audio all the time (like I do), then do yourself a favor and get Audio Hijack Pro. It isn't even very expensive.
