I've got an extra monitor hooked up to my powerbook, positiong directly above the powerbook. My dock and title bar are still on the powerbook screen. To use all the screen space, I want to drag some windows "above" the title bar onto the extra montior. But some apps don't let you do this - i.e. Safari, iCal, while others do, like iTunes. Does anyone know what the deal is with this? It's very annoying.

Cocoa apps know where the menu bar and will not let you drap their title bar above the menu bar. Carbon apps do not. Unfortunatly whoever coded this clever functionality into Cocoa did not take account of multiple screens. Either: a) put your menu bar on the other screen (this is what I do) or b) silent curse your Mac every time this annoys you.
You might want to file a suggestion with Apple to get them to fix this.

Ah, well that would explain it. It's very annoying, cause the display preferences let you arrange the dual monitors any way you want. I don't want my dock/menu bar on the other monitor cause the display quality isn't as good as my powerbook. Guess I'll just have to save up for a new 23-inch Aluminum Cinema Display! ;)
