Hi there!

I'm close to receiving my new 27'' i7 iMac and I want to upgrade the 4GB to 8GB as soon as possible. So my question is what kind of RAM do I have to buy?

DDR3 204pin
DDR3 ECC 240pin
DDR3 240pin

(what is the difference??)

CL 7 or CL9 or....

do you see my dilemma? I'm usually not that bad with hardware but when it comes to RAM I have no clue at all...

please help me out, I just want to buy 2x2GB RAM

thx

In my experience the latency is irrelevant.

I added an extra 2 x 4gb of ram that had different latency (cl8 as opposed to stock cl7) and it works perfectly.

I won't be able to buy from this shops because I'm from Austria, but thanks for your suggestions!

I think I'll go with
Kingston ValueRAM 2 GB DDR3 1066 MHz PC3-8500 - CL7

does anyone know if the iMacs RAM is ECC?
