I'm not very good when it comes to putting a genre on music, but I think I like electronic. I like to group my genres together if possible for easy playback on the iPod. Mostly listening to;

Chris Huelsbeck
Depeche Mode
Goldfrapp
Human League (before the pop-py stuff, stuff like Reproduction)
Kraftwerk
Lemon Jelly
Maxim
Mr Scruff
New Order
Prodigy
Royksopp
Mike Smith (bedroom composer, gave me a song for my game which was nice of him)
Simian Mobile Disco
Ultravox
Tangerine Dream

Various Hacienda stuff, but I live in Manchester so it's kind of required :p.

Brilliant! Yea I've currently got the Symphotic Shades live recordings in my active playlist. Just fantastic stuff, and of course ripped Turrican OSTs (since iTunes can't read TFMX files).
Got some rare tracks of his too like Atlantis and some really odd piece that he made demonstrating some tech on making 16 track songs on a GBA!

The Great Bath will always be one of my fave songs ever. Actually I did a cover of it years back and a friend just recently threw a guitar over the top for an early christmas present xD; here (http://satansam.co.uk/bath.mp3)!

M.U.D.S. ftw! :D I wish they'd played that at Symphonic Shades - the intro just begs for a proper orchestration. And maybe my all-time favourite, "The Wall" (Turrican 2, world 4-1).

Since we are all electronic music lovers, here's 10 years of electronic music all rolled into one mix of 11 minutes, a giant mashup of tracks, basslines, beats and vocals. The first to spot all 56 (!) tracks wins a bag of virtual cookies!

http://soundcloud.com/c-row/dirty-beats-done-dirt-cheap-decade-of-dance-mix

Each minute represents one year from 2000 to 2009. I tried to keep the years separated as good as possible, tough some tracks' single and album release differ from each other, and I happily used this exploit every now and then.

Happy hunting! :)

Never listened to the first, but Röyksopp is pretty good, yeah. Still waiting for that proposed "Senior" album, though.

By the way, as of today, here's the music I have on my 4G iPod nano of the "Trance" period of electronic music (circa 1996-2000):

Children (Dream Version) -- Robert Miles
1998 (Original Mix) -- Binary Finary
1999 (Kay Cee Mix) -- Binary Finary
Greece 2000 (Original Mix) --Three Drives on a Vinyl
Saltwater (Original Mix with Maire Brennan) -- Chicane

I also have Tiësto's Adagio for Strings (Dance Version Original Mix) on my iPod.

Any suggestions for good original "trance" music from 1996 to 2000 I can download to my iPod? :D

It'd be difficult to build a complete list, but over the years some of my favorites:

(no particular order)

Lexicon Avenue
Peace Division
Medway
Terry Lee Brown Jr
Anthony Rother
The Grid
Humate
Rhythm Invention
LTJ Bukem
Ritche Hawtin

I've got about 3,500 12" singles I could go through and list. :D

If we're talking more non DJ specific stuff than:

New Order
Depeche Mode
Dub Syndicate (older stuff w/ Prince Far I)
Meat Beat Manifesto
808 State
