Obviously this applies for the iPhone. Why didn't apple allow the main homepage of buttons etc change orientation using the accelerometer.

I guess because it would mess up the layout of the four "dock" buttons.

Also, there's no real benefit in having the change of orientation in my opinion.

I suppose but sometimes i hold it on its side cause its easier, and for viewing webpages so if i minimise it is would be good to keep it in landscape mode
