One last Maya question: Extrude manipulators. Where are they?

Hi guys.

I've been going through the Maya tutorials and this one has me frustrated. In the tutorial (see 1st pic below) as soon as you click "extrude" extrude manipulators (the little squares) are to show but mine dont. (You can see them in this pic: )



Now here is my picture:



See how they are missing?

Also, I should note that the little "show manipulator" icon is set to show.

I looked online and saw people who had this issue and they resolved it by toggling construction history on and off, however that doesn't work for me.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there a preference somewhere that is set wrong? (I looked but didnt see anything). Any help would be greatly appreciated

Solved! I'm an idiot

First, sorry for the bad screen shot I didn't have any faces selected. Second, I DO have the extrude manipulators, but in the Maya tutorials they are using an older version and the manipulators are the little blue dots.
