i have .Mac and i like it very much. I would like to post files on it and allow people to accsess it, is there a way i can do that via a link?

Anything you post would help me, thanks.

Put the file in the Sites folder on your iDisk.

e.g. If you put the file mypic.jpg in the Sites folder, and your .Mac user name is bob, then the link to the file is:

http://homepage.mac.com/bob/mypic.jpg

Is there a way that i can post stuff without letting people know my .mac account name?

There might be times i would like people to download a file but i would like them not to know my mac account for diffrent reasons, is it possible?

The only thing I can think of is to post a link to the file on another site, and use a piece of JavaScript to hide the download link destination...but even that isn't foolproof, since someone could just look at the source. I therefore conclude that it isn't possible.

Without doing some pretty fancy ***** (and even then it still wouldn't too hard to find out), you will always be able to see where a file is being downloaded from. What do you have to hide :confused:

if you really need to hide something you can always use geocities or something like that sort, eh? :p

That's what I was thinking of - make a site on Geocities that links to a file on your .Mac page, and obscure the location with some JavaScript.
