My iMac has the following drive array connected to it:

Directly connected: 1xUSB 2 500Gb External (GDrive)
Directly connected: 1xFirewire 800 LaCie 120Gb External daisy chained to:
1x Firewire 400 500Gb External (GDrive) daisy chained to:
1x Firewire 400 500Gb External (GDrive)

This morning, trying to connect to the 120Gb drive, its icon has disappeared from the network. The two drives connected to it are both available. I have no error messages from the 120Gb drive to say it has failed.

I've tried replacing the Firewire 800 cable and also connecting it directly to the iMac with a Firewire 400 cable. However, as the 2 daisychained GDrives can be seen, even though the LaCie is positioned directly between them and the iMac, the cables aren't at fault. Power to all the drives is fine. Help!

the case the HDD is in might have falled to power up the drive but can still apss throught the firewire data could have failed

Electricity = witchcraft!!!

Unplugged the drive from the mains. Went to lunch. Came back. Switched it back on. Et voila - sorted!
