I'm so sorry people...I've been searching and am not finding anything specifically addressing my particular needs so I thought I'd go ahead and see if someone out there can help (?)!

I want a reputable brand (Western Digital, Seagate, maybe Lacie? Hitachi?). I want dual drives (lost the data on not one but TWO Macs one week apart from each other, a month ago!), 800 firewire, auto-backup and here's a question for you: how much storage capacity do I need? My new Macbook Pro has 4 bg storage (I may someday take it up to 8 but I don't know) and I also need to transfer the 90+ MB of storage off my old Powerbook onto the new external HD that I get. So does this mean I don't need storage more than what my computer's capable of, since it's recommended that we don't use external hd's for more than a few years anyway (about the same lifespan of a laptop)?

This one looks possible, although I've read some negative reviews (beyond the norm) about Lacie - including the fact that the interior discs (?) are a different company and the customer service is bad:

I'm very interested in Western Digital but is it my imagination or do they have no mac-friendly dual drive versions that also have firewire?:

Re. Free Agent for Mac (Seagate), I see nothing about dual drives, except a new business version one that's $479 and I don't need any fancy business edition:

Can someone please point me in the right direction? Should I just go w/ Lacie do you think - since it's the only one I can find that has all these options? Thank you...very much.
