I finally got it on Tuesday after ordering nov. 13th! I had been very excited for the previous few weeks, but I came down horrible flu on sunday night and am only feeling well enough now to put a few crappy iphone pics up. I was feeling too sick to open it, but I was too excited to just not open it lol.
The box was huge! you can see its much wider than my bedroom door.

I was meant to have a huge clear up of my desk (which has all my University days text books and work just dumped on it since I left) but didn't really get a chance because I've been stuck in bed :p Feels bad to put such a nice machine there lol.

No problems so far, everything working 100%. Screen is great and you cant believe how big it is till you get it. I can get 2 browsers fully open, and still have room to spare!

I am sorry if this will make you feel disappointed, I think I can see the yellow tinge problem in the last two pictures.

The whites (and purples) start to turn yellow towards the mid bottom of the screen.

Now that you mention it, I think you're correct and I do have yellow tinge.
I looked at the image on this link
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=812180
and the bottom picture is far more duller and yellowish.
But I have to admit I did not notice it till you mentioned it, its not that noticeable. But its enough to see the top of macrumors forums is much sharper than the bottom half. Not sure if it's worth replacing as it doesnt bother me much....hmmm. On the other hand i did spend alot of money to get the perfect machine. SO I'll decide next week. What's apples policy on this anyway? Is there a fix i can do (re callibrate or something).

Yours shipped already??? Awesome! I don't think mine has yet, but I got an email from Apple today saying that they couldn't obtain payment, to call the bank, etc... but when I called the bank, they said that Apple hadn't even tried to run it yet. Called APPLE, they had to call the bank, blah blah blah, eventually got it all figured out. Hopefully that means it'll ship sooner than expected! :)
OP: Dude, I'm sorry you got a yellowing screen! What a bummer! I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm willing to wait for a perfect machine, I won't accept a dead pixel or yellowing. I don't care how many times I have to send it back! I need my iMac to be right.

Also i decided the yellowing is not an issue for me, it really is not noticeable for me, and I spend the majority of my time gaming (and its certainly not visible there)

For someone who plays alot of WoW (200 days played on my main alone), I cant stress how much of an improvement it is playing on the new imac. I've been playing the last 3 years of WoW on macbook (white then alu), and its spectacular on the new i7. At times I get 200 frames per second in Dalaran (obviously i should change the settings because thats higher than the monitor refresh rate etc).
And playing WoW on a 27 inch screen....I just cant describe it, it's like a brand new experience.
Last night I was in Scholo with a mate, and the place was looking brand new. The effects just looked brilliant. I can't wait to level an alt through northrend now, going to be great seeing it on the mac!
I'm gonna make a thread about my wow experience on the i7 later early next week but for now, I have Yogg Saron to kill :)
The two main reasons i got the i7 was for WoW and kotor mmo when it comes out.

You got this machine for gaming and wow???
Really?
There are so many great reasons to get this machine but that is not two of them.
For the price you could have even built a triple monitor eyefinty system that would blow the imac away in immersion for WOW.
Myself, I want osx on one of the best displays on the market to use for multiple application and maybe a little WOW. The i7 is a great choice for that.
If I was buying a computer to play wow primary the i7 would be far down the list. Value to performance.

- I only want to use Mac OS (and legit mac os).
- I just started working and after year of uni I feel like I deserve to treat myself and spend my money on the best mac available
- I needed a desktop
- Core Duo is just outdated and won't take advantage of stuff in future
So really only the i5 and i7 make sense to me, and obviously i7 edged it because the money difference is minimal.
I didn't get the machine for "gaming" I got it for WoW, which is pretty much the only game I play (and has been for around 3 years). It's a 5 year old game, practically any computer is too powerful for it. It's not like I it's exclusively for WoW....
To be honest I'm the best judge of what *I* want and what's best for *my* needs, not some stranger who has no idea how I use my computer. I have not mentioned that I like to make wow videos (using imovie and WoW for macs built in recorder) and planning to do some serious Multi-boxing on the machine. I fail to see a better choice than the i7 for me, so please stop jumping to conclusions about what I do based on one or two throw away remarks.
My family hasnt bought a desktop for almost a decade....

I suggest you delete your post
Some people arent OCD enough to notice it themselves but if pointed out, creates unnecessary hassle

nice. i just sold my pc and monitor to switch to a mac pro for film school and video editing .. my old pc was a quad 3.6ghz .. 285gtx playing WoW on a 30 inch dell monitor and i never had a problem .. i really do love the new imac .. but im just not sure if having the laptop gpu that can never be changed will be enough in the long run .. but i love the imac for everything else

Yeah always the case really, although I'm sure it will be good enough to get me through Cataclysm, so another 2-3 years is good. After that I'll just give it to my parents who will contribute towards an upgrade ;)
But the way it runs im confident KOTOR will run very nicely too.
The only other game I play is Sims 3.
My 3.5 year old macbook still does a semi ok job with wow lol

Do not put it out there if you do not want people to comment on it.
Back on subject based on what you are using it for and how you want to treat yourself to something nice...... Get a new one.
You should not have to deal with a monitor defect.

No way the imac will come close to the performance of the 285 on an optimized PC if you are running 2560x1600 8xaa etc...... ultra settings.
......but it might be just fine(minus 15-25fps) and the machine will be more pleasing to use for other tasks.

No the point is you made unfounded conclusions on my computer use. Considering mac only have 4 desktop models, and this is a mac website, what exactly do you expect me to buy :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Hey mate,
Do you play wow with all your settings on highest except shadows? Also I assume that you have had some long raiding sessions.
I returned mine cause after 30-45 min the screen would start to flicker and blackout.
I am keen to hear that people have perfectly working model, in that case i might order another one.

To be fair he bought Apples best value for money gaming machine. Sadly the i7 with the 4850 is as good as it gets on a mac. You cannot seriously consider the mac pro cause they are a complete rip off for what you get.

Yes I play with most on highest. I've played for multiple hours on it, but not in a raid session (cant be bothered to install add-ons 3 days before a patch). I will play Icecrown on it this week :)

Plus im tired of gaming on a laptop :p
And WoW is 5 years old, doesnt need a super computer.
