View Full Version : Burn-In on an LCD Monitor... and I thought it couldn't happen

Yes, it's true. My Intel iMac has a slight case of image burn-in. I'm not sure how it happened, but... obviously I'd like to fix it. Is there a way?

Most cases of burn-in are just temporary and essentially just fix themselves over regular use. However, if it's significantly worse than standard burn-in and it seems to hang around, there are many different programs that "flash" your display in an attempt to remove the burn in. I would personally recommend jscreenfix:

LCD type displays are also susceptible to permanent burn-in, In the case of LCDs, the mechanics of the generally transient image persistence become so severe that pixels permanently lose their ability to return to their relaxed state. All major LCD manufacturers' warranties exclude coverage for burn-in (permanent image persistence) as a result LCD-type displays exhibit a similar phenomenon called transient image persistence, which is sometimes confused with screen burn but is not permanent.
so you cant rub it away , the easiest option is to live with it and hope your pixels are relaxing again , the more expensive option is to buy a new screen if you cant wait

JScreenFix is very interesting... alas, it didn't fix the problem. It's really hard to notice in normal usage, though. I'm not TOO worried about it. Thanks for the link, I shall remember that for later.

Awesome, I have one stuck pixel on the very far right on my monitor about 1/4" from the edge. I'm trying this now to see if it works.

Turn it off for a while and it should go away. It'll come back, but again shut it down for a while, etc.

Awesome, I have one stuck pixel on the very far right on my monitor about 1/4" from the edge. I'm trying this now to see if it works.

I too have a stuck pixel in the middle of my screen..Let me know if that fixes your problem and how long you left it to run. I tried using it for my stuck pixel and it worked on an older pixel but hasn't fixed the newer stuck pixel I have.

be more patient with these poor little pixels
how can they chill out aeh relax if they have to work like donkeys
maybe they just want to tell you something , but you did not listen
so they went on strike :eek:
sorry i know its annoying but there is little you can really do
its like with flu , it takes 14 days with medication and 2 weeks without :(
