Is it possible to install classic from my 17" PB onto a different partition than my OSX drive. I know this is possible by just installing 9 on the disk but all i have is my restore disk.

If it's already installed on your X partition, just copy the System Folder to the other drive, and delete the original System Folder. OS X will still find the System Folder, as long as the disk is mounted...

paulwhannel is correct - just thought I should point out that if you move the System Folder used by Mac OS 9, you should move the Applications (Mac OS 9) folder too.
