G3 Pismo powerbook

I want to upgrade my baby which is a G3 to a G4 processor.She has 768 RAM and a 20 gig harddrive. Is this wise É . I have seen them for 295.00 ,and I have a great shop that will do it for a killer deal.
Also how do I stop these strange symbols from popping upwhen I want to use a question mark or a comma.These are the symbols and how do I get rid of them these are the symbols, ÉÉÉééÈÈ;;;ÈȨÇÇǨÇÇ'''""""ÉÉÉééé.

what nationality is your mac from? check it is set for english in system preferences, is it only in the forums?

a g4 upgrade would be ok but i think you money would be better spend selling the pismo and buying a new/refurb mac

if you want to upgrade consider the powerlogix g3 upgrades (http://www.powerlogix.com/products/g3_pismo/index.html) they are a fair bit faster than the g4 upgrades due to the higher clock speed
