I want to connect a headset to an old beige G3 (266 MHz) that runs Mac OS X 10.2.6. Unfortunately, the microphone doesn't work. I don't quite understand why:
The whole headset works on my PowerBook (headphones + microphone)
The headphones part works on the beige G3
If I plug in the headphones as microphone, I can record just fine with Audacity on both channels (you knew that you can use headphones as a mike, didn't you  ).
Once I plug in the microphone into the microphone input, no signal is recorded
The headphones jack and microphone jack look identical (same length etc.)
I'm really stumped. Anybody know what's the problem?
