if it was for news, i would pick cnn.com, not because it's the best, but because it's good enough and i am familiar with it

for fun, i would pick macrumors since it relates to macs and has this non-mac section (community section/political section) which is a free for all...not a whole lot of reliable general news, but a lot of viewpoints on everything
