I have decided to switch back to PC after reading through a Dell catalog for a few hours. Why?
1. Dells are cheap
2. Apples are expensive and slow
3. Apple only has 3% Market share
4. Apples are toys, not real machines like PCs.
5. I don't want to "Think Different" , thank you!
6. My eMac is only 1 GHz, while my new Dell is 2.5 Ghz!
I'll sell my old flower power iMac with OS 8 on eBay.
You guys were rght about my Dell. The Inspiduroncrapon laptop I ordered is dead. What do you sugget? :)

ya, only a few days ago, you were bashing macs and exalting PCs - and DULLs no less, so these guys still heve a bad taste in their mouth from last time. give it some time. it is kinda your fault for getting a dell in the first place after all the people here gave such negative comments about them.
you said you just got it, so bring it back to dell, and part company with them. or if you really still wanna get a PC, at least get soemthing solid like a Thinkpad. if oyu got it from some private seller, see if they'll take it back, if not, and thye know it's dead, it's scam and you might be able to follow some legal options. or just throw it in the garbage.

Normally, I do not try to get personal with other people on this forum, but in this case, I'll make an exception.
Frankly, I think your a jerk. Some 12 year old boy sitting in front of his computer masturbating while he watches the flame-war he started with his equally immature friends on a Mac forum about how PCs are better in every way, and how Macs are slower, more expensive, and just plain suck.
You, and people like you are the reason there is so much anger, hatred, and/or dislike towards any OS that is not made by Micro$oft.
You blatantly say that Macs are horrible, when you haven't even given them a chance.
Then come crawling back to the people you just trashed talked pissing and moaning about how your 'state of the art' DuLL computer is dead after less than 48 hours of use.
You make me sick.
As for helping you, I suggest you do one of the following:
1) return your computer back to Dell, and try and get a new one.
2) return your computer back to Dell, and buy a Mac.
3) return your computer back to Dell, and never go near another piece of technology as long as you live.
Now it's time for me to go back to my happy place. :)

This thread just makes me laugh...
One of my ignorant friends (someone just like hitchhiker) originally purchased a Dell laptop, despite much encouraging (from me and others) to switch. Turns out his laptop had a harddrive failure within the first 48 hours (coincidence...?). To make a long story short, two additional Dell notebooks were sent to his house, BOTH (making a total of 3) computers also had harddrive failures. Hahaha!
I'm happy to say he then decided to switch-- to a Vaio laptop  ... some people will never learn/understand.

No, you are getting flamed because of your attitude. You showed up, said Macs suck; your asking for it.
And I serously doubt anyone on this fourm would flame you if you bought a PC if you made a good argument, but instead you came in flamed Macs and bought a PC.
Hell, I even own a PC or two.

You know, I've read through hitchhiker's posts, and I can't really seem to find 'her' throwing any 'flames' explicitly anywhere. Other than the decision (perhaps unwise) to list her unsubstantiated reasons for switching on a Mac forum, and the use of 'machead' as an expletive.
A few interesting things did come up that do lead me to question the claim that she's a 26 year old woman.
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=973348#post973348
The 'man' looks like her. Possibly a very effeminate man, but it doesn't look that way. And bed at 7:30? Granted there could be a time difference. Then again there is the incessant use of smilies and the love of cats that may also import feminine qualities - sexist, I know, and I apologise ;) But you know, no one really know anyone on these boards, so I wouldn't jump to any conclusions on that basis.
However nothing bothers me more than consistent typographical and spelling errors (give and take, we're none of us perfect :)). If you're really a 26 year old woman, you may need to take remedial typing or spelling classes.
Finally, I find the whole situation a little bizarre and 'unreal', which almost leads me to agree with some of the others that this whole situation is a little phony. As much as I dislike them, I find it hard to believe that a brand new Dell laptop would crash and burn so quickly. I also find it hard to believe that you can call the 'G-Series' labelling of Apple's processors old, come up with the 'inspired' new label of 'XG7', and yet not remember the name of your Dell laptop that you presumably spent $1000-$2000 on days ago and is currently DOA.
And even if it did die so soon, surely you should be talking to Dell Customer Support baying for blood, rather than asking for help on a Mac forum. I mean, in the first place you posted a bunch of reasons why you're switching to PC rather than asking for advice on whether or not you should switch - so given the way you've dealt with people on this board before, can you understand if they're not exactly lining up to help you out now? I think you're looking for sympathy in the wrong place.
Finally, I am confused as to whether or not you have an eMac or a flower power iMac running OS 8. If you have both, then I find it difficult to believe that you would have found Dells so much superior, or considered the 3% market share, 'Think Different' and the megahertz myth as such negatives. If you only have the latter, then why are you comparing a Mac over five years old to a brand new PC and expecting any sort of equality in performance?
If you're for real, then I apologise, and advise you to call Dell Support and not make another post here in relation to it, or how superior it is to your old Mac. If you're faking it, then perhaps you should find somewhere else to amuse yourself, because you'll be out of here pretty soon anyway.

Actually, OziMac said what I was thinking earlier. I started laughing when I read this thread because of all the statements going back and forth, and then even more when I backtracked to the other thread started by hitchhiker. And then I started wondering if this thread is for real. I mean, what a good way to get all the Mac users up in arms and basically providing entertainment. The whole thread has a surreal nature to it if you read it from start to finish.

dont be stupid and ask people on this forum, call dell and tell them your machine does not work. give them your account information and ask them where to send it to and how long it will take to get a replacement. you can try to get a complete refund, but i am not that familiar with dell's refund policy.
and, for the record, a 1ghz mac is going to be faster in most tasks (save gaming if you have a good video card) than a 2.5 GHz PC (P4). although the 2.5 ghz p4 is a faster processor, the software on which is runs is crap.
panther makes all the difference, and you must remember that 1 G4 MHz does NOT equal 1 P4 MHz.
1 G4 MHz > 1 P4 MHz
(in simple terms, that is)

Gotta say I've enjoyed readhing through the rantings of others here, I can feel the joy that must be going through them as they rant ^-^
As for the PC lady do what others have said, have a warranty... use it... if not you can be evil and try and sell if off ebay or you can cut your losses and save up some money... Or you can do the fun thing and take legal action :D
And yeah I gotta talk about your quote that the clock speed alone means something I mean... yeeshe anyone, even a PC user (which I still am :3) knows that the clock speed means squat in today's world, some companies just make slower chips (clock speed wise) that can just do huge amounts of work at a slower speed (AMD and Apple are the first to come to mine) heck when the P4 first came out it sucked because all it had was a high clock speed but it was a weak processor all together.
And as for PC users not learning their lesson I personally have ^-^ seeing as all my friends have windows based laptops and all have had major problems (ranging from hard drive failures (dell) and flat out punching the LCD monitor (making one bad mistake in warcraft3 against which resulted in them losing against the 2nd or 3rd best WC3 player) I have chosen to go the course of the mac when I buy a laptop.

Like Ozone, I was also thinking what OziMac was thinking. After reading through Hitchhikers posts in that other thread, I don't see flaming of any sort from Hitchhiker's posts. I actually don't see much wrong with it. People just responded poorly.
Come to think of it, the MR members acted kind of ***hole-ish.
Anyway, call Dell. This is a Mac forum, after all. If you're going to get a laptop, get an IBM. The Gateway 200 series is also good, but I don't know about the quality.

well make sure you get SP2 when it get out to the general public. I got it on my box and pretty much it impovement all around. The OS now uses less ram and less VM. Is a little faster (it will be more noticble on a slower computer like your laptop) and chances are you dont have a firewall running on your computer which ALL computer need (including macs) and it will give you some type of firewall. The windows firewall is turned off on mine because I have nortain firewall. Windows is still happy since I am running a firewall.
Your first mistake was saying how PCs are better. You where just asking for it then.
