I finally got a buyer for my G4 and I have to ship it tomorrow.
Any recommendations or links to articles on how to securely erase the HD.
I know about superscrubber and reformatting, but I want to cover all my bases. Can someone recommend a good solution?
Thanks

Startup with your OS X CD, use Disk Utility, and format with the Write Zero's option.

I'd do a more complete data wipe, especially if you stored any sensitive data on the HD (financials, etc.)
iWipe (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/11801) provides DOD level of deletion (35 passes).

How many days is 35 passes going to take? He ships it tomorrow.

What time zone is he in? ;)
It should only take a few hours - run it overnight (or run a lower security level). I just wouldn't take risks with any personal information.

I did Disk Utility's 8x random overwrite on an 80GB drive and I cancelled it after about 3 days. I decided I didn't need to be that paranoid and just zeroed it, which only took a few hours.
