I recently erased my HD and am know reinstalling everything. I use to run iLife '08, but since I'm reinstalling everything anyways, I might as well upgrade to iLife '09. The thing is that all my photos are from iPhoto '08.

To make restoring my photos as smooth as possible, should I install iLife '08 and then import my photos, and then upgrade to iLife '09, or should I just install iLife '09 and then Import my photos? Thanks

I have a 24" iMac that runs iLife 08 and a 13 mbp running iLife 09. Rather than monkey around with import/export I simply copied the iPhoto Library from the iMac to the MBP. iPhoto 09 saw the database and converted it with no issues.

As long as your iPhoto Library is in ~/Pictures, iPhoto should not have any trouble upgrading the library to work with '09.
