NetFlix, Is There Anything Better Out There For The 27" iMac? Just Wondering..

Hey,

First let me point out, so far I enjoy NetFlix (just signed up today) and I enjoy the quality it has while I'm watching movies on my iMac 27".

I'm just curious to know if any other unlimited streaming renting company is better than NetFlix that shows movies in better quality, and has more up to date movies than NetFlix?

For $9 a month for unlimited instant video watches, I can't complain, but still would like to know if anything better out there exist?

I'm REALLY hoping Apple will roll out the 30$/m deal with the whole Apple TV and iTunes. That would be beyond amazing.

It's an option for some selections. Depends on the provider. For example, the 30 Rock streams on Instant Play are available in HD.

:cool:Just called Netfix and they said that the ones marked as HD don't really stream as HD to your computer (either PC or Mac). HD quality is only supported on a "Netflix device". It's just standard, as you surmised.

I thought the whole "netflix streaming" thing would be awesome... so after I did the free trial and found out that none of the movies were less and 2 years old and most of the TV shows were even older, I just cancelled.

Now I spend my $10 a month at Redbox getting the DVD I want.

Glancing at movies to stream on the front page of Netflix I see Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009), The International (2009) and Food Inc.(2008/09) so looks like you're wrong.

Yeah, netflix has "some" new releases, BUT, not a lot. So in some ways the guy is right and wrong. When I clicked on new releases, they had "The Mighty Ducks" as a new release LMAO! I'm not sure if it's a remake or what, but I know I watched that when I was kid, but overall, they do have a nice selection of movies to pick from to keep you from being bored.

But what I like about Netflix is the price, it's compatibility with Mac to be able to stream in a browser, and the fact that you can do all this online without leaving your home, for a low price of $9.00 a month:eek:.

Now, considering I have a 27", the image will get a little stretched for movies that are not really high in quality, but for the most part, if you watch the movie from the recommended feet, it's really hard to tell. I'll say it looks like a decent DVD movie, but if you are right up on the monitor as if you are typing a paper, you will notice the loose of quality.

I've watched two movies so far, and I love it!
