StarCraft trouble on OS X

When i run starcraft on my computer the screen turns black yet i can hear the sounds of the game intro and i can hear my mouse going over the buttons on the screen and i can press them, so the gaming is running fine its just that something is wrong with the video. While the screen is black if i put the computer to sleep then wake it up again, then it works fine and the images appear but i have to continue to put it to sleep and wake it up when ever i go to another screen. For instance, when i choose single player and it goes to the ID screen and then i choose my ID i have to do it again at the next screen.

I installed it with OSX native installer off of the Blizzard website, and i followed their directions with the latest patch. I installed it the same way with a friends mac book and the game works fine.
