A tweet (http://www.macdailynews.com/index.php/weblog/comments/rumor_apples_wwdc_2008_to_be_held/) and article (http://9to5mac.com/corporate-event-2010-wwdc-apple-moscone-09008) (and forum post (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=807177)) have pointed out that Moscone's summer schedule (http://www.moscone.com/site/do/event/list?nav.type=0&nav.filter=1006&nav.base=0912) has blocked out June 28th-July 2nd as the likely dates for Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2010.
The schedule lists a "Corporate Event" occupying Moscone West during those dates. For the past two years this "Corporate Event" placeholder has accurately predicted the dates for WWDC (2008 (http://www.macdailynews.com/index.php/weblog/comments/rumor_apples_wwdc_2008_to_be_held/), 2009 (http://www.macuser.co.uk/news/250258/apple-confirms-dates-for-wwdc-2009.html)). Apple tends not to announce the official dates of WWDC until well into the new year.
WWDC has become of increasing importance to Apple as it now represents the only regularly scheduled launch event for the company. In the past, Macworld San Francisco anchored the January date as a second regular launch venue, but Apple will no longer be attending Macworld. Apple has launched a new iPhone model during the past two WWDC keynotes, and Phil Schiller (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/01/09/schiller-on-apples-yearly-product-timelines/) even defined the iPhone's annual product cycle as a June revision.

With the iPhone taken care of and the Mac steered in the right direction, I hope they focus on the living room and bring tv its much needed developer tools to allow developers to create apps for the device.
Re: iPhone - I skipped the iPhone 3GS hoping for a more substantial improvement in the next generation. I'm sure it will come at or near this event. iPhone OS 4.0 may be also unveiled at WWDC.

I guess we'll allways have WWDC ... a pro/developer event which has been contorted into an iPhone orgy.

I really don't understand the moves of Apple not to go to the Macworld. First, well this is Macworld and un unless something terrible has happened, this is really a dumb move not to attend a salon this big that concerns your computers.
Second, after the really bad WWDC of this year with Itunes 9 and the cold feeling that Snow Leopard left after it was releases, people are waiting for a new events. I really don't see myself trusting Apple anymore while having to wait 6 month.
But at last, not least, I hope they'll do a good Macbook Pro update in the first or second month of 2012, the one they should have done before this year's end.

I'm really hoping for an iPhone revision that uses the new, in-house designed ARM chips and the upcoming 64GB memory chips.
The current iPhone is pretty good but if they can up the battery life with a more efficient chip, maintain the speed of the current 'S' version and offer a 64GB version for those for whom 32 is not enough, then I for one would be ecstatic.

64GB iPhone, faster, 5MP camera that's slightly thinner.
Various iTunes improvements
And...
The tablet that was announced in January.

In regards to your first point, Apple didn't want to feel pressured in releasing product(s) in early January at MacWorld. However, they replaced the no show at MacWorld with calling press conferences when they had something to show. This gives them much more flexibility introducing product(s) for its consumers.
Next, I have attended WWDC which is a developer conference for the Mac and iPhone developers. Furthermore, I have learned so much in the years conference because I attended a good mix of iPhone, Mac, and some very cool web sessions.
In short, if you haven't attended WWDC, then I would highly recommending attending because it's a well done conference, you'll have the opportunity to network with other developers, and attend some great sessions.

It will be like that:
90% iPhone PR talk
10% developer tools
And for about 30 last seconds Phil will say: Oh, yeah, we do have some OS out there. I guess the number now is 10.7, isn't it? It's in some pre-alpha testing stage. I am not sure, it'll be out some time! Anyways, back to the iPhone! :D

Apple's really got to concentrate on Snow Leopard this year. Not much broke, but not much is taking advantage of it, either. None of the big developers have any 64 bit applications and even VLC fell in a hole.
Apple have got to fix the App Store approvals and redesign the store to make it easier to browse, but hopefully the focus will be off iPhone and back on Mac.
Which brings us to the tablet. Much as I'm looking forward to Apple selling a tablet, I don't want WWDC to be diverted into another line of non-Mac development. The Snow Leopard launch proved that Apple's OS teams are spread too thinly across iPhone and Mac and presumably secret tablet development.
I'd like to see Apple refocus on Mac OS, stabilise iPhone development (if that will ever happen) and with a bit of luck, the SDK for the tablet will be -next- WWDC, not this one.
Dear Mr Jobs, Please give us back our Mac. You've given us Snow Leopard. Please focus Mac developers on moving to 64 bit Snow Leopard, now.

Apple will introduce a new 22" LED ACD for $699.
It will have an amazing, great and easy to use response time of 12ms.
The resolution will be 1600x900
It will work with one Apple computer, but Apple won't tell you which one until you buy it.
It can work with all Apple computers with the purchase of two adapters for $100.
It will come with a super glossy mirror glass.
A matte option will be availble for $150.
Polarized anti-glare viewing goggles will be available for $100.

I disagree. Latest rumours have backtracked to tablet launch in January (my guess-CES, Jobs to keynote), go on sale in March, and maybe promise of an SDK at WWDC, but nothing for the general developer community until Apple's done some deals with and implemented major tablet content partners - book/magzine/newspaper publishers, etc

Keep your expectations low, then you'll never be disappointed!
As for Macworld, Cynically you could say it was politics between Macworld getting business off the back of Apple who was just EXPECTED to show up. But from a business perspective, I would have thought Apple just didn’t want to have to try to rush a breathtaking new product out the door every single January, and also conflict with the press attendance in CES.
There’s a reason they always release new products on Tuesdays, its all PR :P

It's pretty obvious what we're seeing at this event: the fourth generation iPhone. What features will it have, I have no idea. I have a feeling iLife '11 and iWork '11 will be announced and will take advantage of Snow Leopard's capabilities, as well as being 64 bit and intel only.

So now we have proof that the new iPhone will be somewhere in there! I know it is just a rumor but as Shiller has made clear this is the iPhone product cycle. I hope even if Apple went to Verizon that they would still stay with AT&T. Anybody know if Apple would just drop At&t. I love AT&T they are good in my area. Because of the long time between Apple conferences, I think there's a risk that Apple will time product announcements or releases around the event rather than announce products when they are ready. When they had more frequent shows this seemed less likely.
Why is it a problem? Three reasons:
1. They may announce products prematurely so they don't miss the deadline. That leads to vaporware, low sales on orders of earlier products, confusion about product details, and frustrating delays in getting our hands on products after we hear about them. I suppose knowing about products in advance can help us plan our purchases and can build up exictement, but I often find pre-announcements more annoying than helpful.
2. They may release products too soon. If a product's development is behind schedule, they may omit features or do insufficient testing to meet the deadline rather than have a separate and much smaller press event later.
3. They may hold a product's release until a show to get the best splash. Perhaps announcement of a product that could have been ready in May is held off until WWDC to maximize attention.
Am I just imaging these possibilities or are they real?

For products that are updates on existing products (and not new product categories), Apple presumably has a pretty good idea of when they'll be ready, at least plus or minus three months.

From Apple's POV:
Having two conferences per year, especially one directly following the holidays, placed undue pressure on expectations for new product announcements.
Holiday sales would suffer, as a result, due to expectations of new revisions.
Rather than needing to 'time' releases to the schedules of the conferences, they seem now to be in a better position to release products via 'Special Events,' when products are ready to ship.
Of course, holding one or two products over until WWDC would provide 'good box office,' the Special Event venue is turning out to be a favorable one.
Now that Apple has a large presence with its retail stores and growing rep, perhaps they feel that they no longer need the spotlight of Macworld, as they did during the past decade.

Hell yeah dude, i'm with you on this one.
Althoughh, i don't believe iPhone isn't going anywhere with any other carrier, other than AT&T. Just because Apple iPhone is such a big global cell phone that are all baisically on GSM networks.(in other words, iPhone likes to go international & travelers can have a better experience.) Also, CDMA is becoming old, while Gsm is more modern and Apple likes to roll with modern.
As for the next generation iPhone,
Who knows if it'll be 4G. it's too early for it to be 4G, especially if AT&T and/or Verizon is gonna be working on it in the future. The only way they'll roll out a 4G iPhone will be if Apple attaches itself to Sprint, who is currently the only 4G network in America.
Camera: Expecting a 5 megapixel, but Apple wouldn't do 12 megapixel, for SURE! atleast not now.
Design: Most most most likely a new disign, most likely slimer, etc.
Don't be expecting a physical or Slid out physical keyboard. There is a reason why Apple talked about it in WWDC '07 and there's a reason for adding a smart virtual keyboard.
Battery: I'm real positive that Apple will boost up the battery life to atleast 7 hours of talk-time. My highest hours of guess,(or atleast 9 hours, to the MAX.)
Resolution: Positive that Apple will also boost up their resolution, but not too many. And i'll be super suprised& shocked if Apple releases an OLED screen. Very very "suprised"(doubt it they'll get an OLED screen.)
User interface: Can be worked on, and am probably expecting a 4.0 update anytime soon. It's highly possible.
As for the UI, i'm real comfortable as how it is for myself.
Overall, these changes are expectations that Apple will unviel with the 4th generation iPhone. Hopefully better ideas may come out soon.
Just don't expect Verizon Wireless. (I'd also be suprised.)

That's not happening. The 100,000+ Applications for the iPhone are designed for a 480x320 screen, hence filling the whole screen. If the resolution changes, then every single app out now and every app in development needs to be redone.

Not all apps would need to be redone - just those that use bitmaps. And the ones that use bitmaps could be automatically scaled based on the Info.plist. They'll look crumby until the app developers update the apps with new higher-res resources, but they'll work and fill the screen.

That would happen, if and only if, the network in question were capable of handling the additional demands of bandwidth.

:apple:
I would also like to and forgot to mention about the capacity amount on the iPhone, the Flash, and the front facing iChat camera.
Gigabytes: I could definitely see Apple's iPhone jump up to 64 gigs. Throughout the 3 generations, we've all seen and noticed a trend of gigs just
doubling on iPhones(and iTouch.)
Flash?: Apple fans and iPhone owners seem to be concerned and are always wondering, "damnit, when are we getting flash?" As for flash, i believe there 60% chance of Apple introducing flash in the 4th generation iPhone.
I still have no clue where & why the flash hasn't been included yet. Let alone, it'll look ugly on an iPhone. But there are few potential places to add the flash at.
Like, if I were to build an iPhone myself, and if I were in Apples shoes, I would add the flash on the Apple logo,meaning,.. Very, very bright flash. Especially if it were an LED flash. It'll look perfect on the Apple logo, just because it won't have to ruin the original & amazing iPhone look on the back. and it can have a bright MacBook apple logo brightness to it also, whenever the phone is in use.
Very clever ;D
Front facing camera: In no way, would Apple introduce a front facing iChat camera on the 4th generation iPhone. I mean, that'll be a very nice plus, I'm not gonna lie. But would any telecommunications service be healthy enough to support that yet, especially with over a million iPhones out there in the world? But than again, maybe wi-fi hotspots? Hmm, who knows. Still, I don't believe Apple would allow front- facing camera in 6-7 moths. It's just too much at the moment.
Don't get me wrong, I'll like this iChat camera, but maybe more suitable in the year 2011 and beyond, just not now.

Fourth gen iPhone most likely. Apart from extra capacity, main improvement I would like is improved camera with video zoom capability. A flash for the camera would be a huge improvement
I can see Apple improving the camera and video also.
What I would like to see is "pinch & zoom" before snapping a photo and video.
It'll make more sense because of Apple's multi-touch quality and technology and can be a real big help to those who like to get those up-front like photos.
That would be a big plus, and possible for Apple to introduce in their camera app on their next generation iPhone, and update.

i really dont think apple would release an update RIGHT AFER Christmas, do you guys know how many ppl would be mad and how many returns there would be, to me having an update a few weeks AFTER Christmas is the worst idea, also not a lot of ppl would buy them since they purchased this months model already for Christmas presents, I think these are all rumors just because theres a new processors coming out doesnt mean apple will use them right away the following week, im getting one this week :) who else agrees with me?

never stopped Dell/HP. they've done it for years. Intel always releases new CPU's in the 1st quarter and another update in the 3rd quarter
the first half of the year is nothing but tech conventions where new products are introduced
