Sleep/wake button takes screenshot instead??

I have an Ipod touch 16gb 1g running 3.1.2 and the problem i have right now is that a couple of days ago my ipod went all white and then i couldn't do anything with in somehow i got it working again (allmost) but now when i press the sleep button it just takes a screen shot (and it still takes a screenshot when i press both buttons) i have tried to recover it many times but it still does it so noe i'm asking you guys if there is anybody who has tried the same or know what to in my situation???

to take a screenshot u press home and sleep button. if u can take a screenshot just by pressing the sleep button, it suggests that the home button might be stuck, or that it is a software problem. Try cleaning the button, as dirt might have gotten in it, or visit your local apple store.

that was also what i thought first but it works fine to turn off the ipod(holding it down)
