The title is self explanatory. I've looked around, and the Sonnettech is incompatible with the 2009 model. What card should I pick?

Here's an SIL3132 based 2 port model (http://cgi.ebay.com/4-Port-ESATA-SATA-II-PCI-E-PCI-Express-Card-SIL3132-6C_W0QQitemZ350168147392QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5187a5e5c0) that will work (won't boot OS X, but it's really inexpensive). SIL offers the drivers here (http://www.siliconimage.com/support/searchresults.aspx?pid=32&cat=3&os=3). They're simple (no RAID functionality, but do work with SL and '09 machines).

The 4 port models are substantially more expensive though ($200USD vs. less than $20USD on eBay for the SIL3132 based card). ;)

But if there's a need, then that trumps cost. :p

agreed. was Christmas present, so figured i was worth it. i can now RAID0 4 external drives with 2 of these... http://www.amazon.com/eSATA-SATA-External-3-5in-Drive/dp/B001IOPIRM/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1262294120&sr=8-13

it's a very useful little device... no more external drives with their own power cables and plugs and mess, just insert cheap bare drive and BAM!
