WARREN, Mich. — A 52-year-old man complained only about the cold weather before walking into a diner with a five-inch knife sticking out of his chest. The unnamed man called a Warren 911 operator on Sunday night to ask that an ambulance be sent to Bray's, an eatery in neighboring Hazel Park. He said he had been stabbed during a robbery attempt half a mile away, then walked to the restaurant and called 911 from a pay phone.
On a recording of the call, the man gives a vague description of his attacker before saying, "I'm gonna sit down at Bray's 'cause they got a chair and it's cold out here."
Restaurant employee George Mirdita told The Detroit News the man calmly ordered coffee.
Police said Tuesday that the man is recovering.

Is it just me or does it seem odd that the poster of this story has an avatar including a knife similar in size to that of the attacker in the story? :o

They don't make tough guys like they use too. Modern so-called Bad @ss are wimps compared to us geezers. The man fought off a robber, walked half a mile in the cold with a knife in his chest, called 911 and sat down for a cup of joe. That's bad @ssery worth of Teddy Roosevelt.
Had the man been 20 years younger, we'd be reading about a would-be-robber who go stabbed by his own knife.;)

The man fought off a robber
I dunno about that. If he had been successful, he wouldn't have had
a knife in his chest

Looks like there's that one plus one in Hazel Park...out by Dequindre and 9 Mile.

Another story, that if put in a movie, people would say, "hmph, that's so over the top!" It's truly amazing how at times reality is stranger than fantasy or fiction. :D

That story reminds me of one I read a couple years ago about a man who (if I remember correctly) got totally smashed at a bar and got into a fight during which he was stabbed in the back, but was so drunk he didn't really realize it until he woke up the next morning with the knife still in his back.
Stabbings just ain't what they used to be.

Knew a guy who got wasted then jumped off his school roof. He didn't realise he'd broken his back until the next morning.
Amazingly he made a full recovery. His friend also jumped and made it home with a broken leg, which he also only had treated the following day

A real man would have ordered lots of bacon on the side and a bottle of hot sauce.

if he was really bad ass he would have just pulled the knife out and used the coffee pot to burn the wound closed.
