I want 8Gb of ram in my 09 quad, what is the best option. I am in the UK. Should i but 4x2gb dimms from crucial or 2x4gb dimms from crucial or 1x8gb dimm from owc plus shipping. Also if i ordered from owc would i have to pay tax or anything.
thnx:)

You will pay VAT on the price including shipping and a handling fee. It'll be like £200 for 8GB (4x2GB). I'd just buy it from Crucial.

If you must have exactly 8 GB I would buy 2 x 4 GB RDIMMs. Your upgrade options are much better and you will not pay much more. The bandwidth loss is comparable. From there you can upgrade easily to 12 GB and 24 GB without having to ditch any DIMMs. Only the 32 GB option would eventually require you to ditch your two 4 GB modules. By that time your system is probably obsolete.
