aim and ichat keep kicking me offline

hey everybody
whenever i put aim or ichat on away for prolonged periods of time, i come back to an error saying that my password is invalid and to find out that my powerbook has been signed offline. i talked to some friends about it and they told me that they all had the same problem with their new powerbooks and that the fix was relatively simple. unfortunately, none of them could remember how they resolved the issue. any help would be greatly appreciated.

if your computer sleeps/goes on standby/deep sleep aim will sign out, at least on windows. also, if you close the lid on windows it'll sign out of aim. i guess its the same on mac

The network card goes to sleep along with the rest of the system when it goes to sleep/you close the lid. The fix is as simple as disabling the sleep function in the Energy Saver prefs (move the widget to Never). Just don't close the lid when you leave, and you can be online 24/7 if you like.
