Ok so I am going to Vegas tomorrow after all the Christmas hoopla crap. I am planning on spending a full day shooting.

Other than the obvious shots of the strips and casino's I am wondering where and what else I can photograph. I would like to photograph something different, I do plan on shooting the strip but I want other shots as well.

Here is the equipment I am taking: Nikon D90, Nikon N90S (film), 18-105 3.5-5.6 lens, 50mm "Nifty Fifty", SB-600 Flash with gary fong cloud diffuser, Quantary 70-210, and a decent tripod.

I want to shoot both film and digital just for fun.

Also if you have any suggestions on staying safe while shooting there. Thanks in advance for the advice, I will post some of the shots when I return.

Hoover Dam. Great golf courses just outside the strip. I would focus on capturing human emotions, winners, losers, etc. etc. That offers the best breadth of possibilities.

Hoover Dam.

I was in Vegas around the middle of November. Hoover is a must. You might also want to check out a little marina on Lake Mead. There are tons of carp, duck, and seagulls flying around. You feed the carp and ducks popcorn you purchase in the marina, it's quite a spectacle.

FWIW,in a couple of the casinos, I've gotten requests from security
that I not take pictures of people I'm not with/don't know inside the gaming areas.

If it's busy (or open, for that matter--call ahead), you might get some similar expressions in similarish lighting conditions at The Pinball Hall of Fame. www.pinballmuseum.org

I live in Vegas and i will tell you that if you plan on shooting inside a casino make sure you arent shooting the tables, no flash, and sometimes no tripods. Security guards here tend to think they are actual police and what not... Just be aware of the people, and whats going on around you and you shoudnt have to worry about them hassling you.

I would get out of the city and go to Red Rock Canyon State Park!!!!

last time i was in Vegas, I spent an entire day out there and got some great shots...

Its about 15 miles away from the strip....

Enjoy your trip to Vegas!!!!
