A piece written by Daley (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/12/23/AR2009122302439_pf.html) in today's WaPo is some of the most sensible work that I've seen in the last few months. He brings up two points, both of which I believe to be accurate.

First, a lot of "dedicated" Dems are forgetting who got them to their majority - the moderates and independents who were sick of the GOP. In their zeal to bring their long held views into play, they are running the risk of losing their kingmakers. Without reining in their wants, and the party may very well take a good bit of damage next year.

Second, there isn't too much to fear. The GOP isn't doing any better, with their "dedicated" acting like bigger fools.

In the end, it looks like 2010 will come down to the party that stops acting up, with the out-of-power doing a little better if neither cleans up the fringe.

I can't believe that he wrote something this sensible, but he did.
