Is anyone in possession of a week 52 unit yet? If so, what's your verdict? Reviews would be nice. :)

Have there been any reports of iMacs within the past two weeks without the color variation or flickering issues?

I just received a replacement 21.5" iMac, week 51, and has not such problems as far as I can tell. Week 49 (the other one), had a yellow tinge near the bottom.

I'd be interested to hear if any of the newer units still have problems with the HD's being noisy. I know my i5 - 1 tb Seagate model (replacement on the way) was a model that many had problems with..

Had my i7, 8gb, 1TB, week 50 unit up and running for a few days now. Delivery to UK was December 22, well ahead of the original January 8 estimate.

I am pleased to say that there is no discolouration, no flickering and all pixels are alive! This is the quietest Mac I've ever owned - fans and hard drive are almost inaudible - boy, am I relieved after reading some members' experiences.

The machine oozes quality. This is simply the nicest thing I've ever owned. Sublime.

There are far fewer being reported with problems on the iMac issues site. I'm pretty optimistic that Apple has figured out and solved the manufacturing issues and shipping issues.

I'm waiting for more data to come in... 3 out of the 14 week-52 macs on that site still had screen issues that weren't fixed by the firmware. It's for sure a better ratio than prior weeks, but still not a great % in absolute terms.

SO the new ones being shipped will automatically be Week 52+?? I have a replacement ordered because my last 27" i7 was DOA. Will I be guaranteed to have a Week 52+ replacement if it tells me that the shipping date is Jan 6 and expected to be delivered on Jan 11th?

Also...are ALL newer iMacs coming with the WD 1TB Black Caviar???

Is mine a week 73one? W5773xxxx ?

Mine shouldn't have problems since it's being delivered first week of Jan?

I have a Week 51 27' i5 that has been working great for 2 days now... no flickering, yellow tinge, or any other aforementioned problems. I've seen some other Week 51 units that seem to be problem-free, so perhaps all new units now will be fixed?

Isn't mine a week 73model? W5773xxxx?

Mine was ordered thru apple online store December 10 or there abouts was promised before Christmas, but then the 2week thing Happen.
Mine should be arriving fine with no issues?

Also since u got yours before the 8th I should get mine before the 11th Jan then? Cause it ships 5th Jan apparently but there is still a chance it can come this week coming right?

Please reply.

The WXXXXXXXX that the people are chatting about is the serial of the computer - not your W order number.

Had a week 50, yellow tinge on the bottom. Exchanged for a week 46, exactly the same.

Going back today to exchange it again. They wouldn't let me boot up the week 46 in the store, what a hassle. This time I called ahead and they are going to let me try em til I get a good one.

No, that number has nothing to do with the week. That is the order number. Only the serial number tells you the week. Two completely different things.

Which part of the serial number can I use to tell what week my iMac was made?

If your serial number was W**50******, then that would be a week 50 machine. Serial number is usually detailed on the invoice of your iMac purchase and also in the "About This Mac" on the top left drop down menu (once you've selected this menu option just click on the "More Info" Box).

Yeah you wait until the item ships, and then go to "print invoices," from Apple Store online order status.

The actual invoice will show the serial number.

I received my wk 53 imac i5 a little over a week ago;

I've experienced no screen flickering, there is the slightest yellow tinge across the bottom 1/8th of the screen however it is no where near noticeable and It took me some time to even decide that it was a yellow tinge after running the grey bars test, the hard drive is very subtle however there is a but. . . . the bottom right hand corner of the screen has very noticeable uneven backlighting. It is very prominent on a black screen i.e. front row. It's going back on the 30th and i should receive my replacement machine by the 11th! Very disappointing, it was an otherwise perfect machine!!

Me thinks, quite understandably, peoples patience is beginning to fail on this issue.

It will also most likely go back if it has the yellow screen again.

time for another phone call to Apple. This time I think I'll be asking for my money back. Much as I like this computer, I need a display that doesn't blow chuncks. I'm afraid I may be going back to my hackintosh, or building a new one.

I just returned mine for a refund. The whole process is ridiculous. They told me at the Apple store that repair isn't even an option.

Wow,

I called Apple this morning and they wanted to replace it and I opted to have it repaired. Will be bringing it in next week.

Well, here's a wee update - the yellow has faded a bit. It's still there - FAINT but there; the display is usable, and the machine is otherwise perfect. It's NEARLY acceptable. Who told you that repair wasn't an option? Did you get their email, is it in writing? If there's no chance for a future repair I want my money back. I just want to make sure that if they start having ones with good screens again, I'll be able to get one.

Here's some pics from earlier when it was more pronounced. The new one is on the right. Vertical stripe this time, not horizontal across the bottom.'

Edit: here's the link. Sorry.

Yeah, I've already moved my RAM and data over to the new one. I'm going to hang onto it since the yellow has faded almost entirely away.
