Ok guys, I'm hoping I'm posting in the right forum here, but I just have a general question to ask for all of you.

Where would I buy a refurbished Macbook Air? I looked at the refurbished ones on apple.com and they all seem pretty expensive. I was hoping to get cheaper than that.

I was thinking ebay, but I don't have an ebay account. Is it worth making one just to buy one?

I know that the selling forums on this forum have been removed, but any advice would be greatly appreciated. What I'm typically looking to buy is a 1.86/2.13 ssd (solid state drive). Has to be this version, can't settle for anything else.

I know that the selling forums on this forum have been removed

FWIW, they exist, but you are not eligible to use them.

Forum sales are generally the cheapest option, or local craigslist purchases (be careful, of course, to meet in a public place, and inspect the product carefully). There are a few other places that sell refurb Mac products, but I don't think the prices are phenomenally better than Apple.

Also beware that, if you buy a refurbished MBA from Apple, you get a warranty... make sure you understand the risk involved with getting one from anyone else. If you're looking from anyone else, make sure you understand what, if any, protection you have (e.g. get the warranty start date so you know when the warranty runs out, if it has not already).

I don't think you'll be able to find one for much less than $1000... MacBook Airs are pretty desirable.

Were you hoping to find one for a little less?

I throw in my vote for c-list as well. I picked up a Rev.A MBA for $700 (incl. a little over a year of Applecare left!), from a decent seller.

Make sure you meet in a public place, bring a friend (if you can), ask lots of questions and of course physically inspect the computer before paying for anything. Oh and lastly, communicate with the seller as much as possible, the more they respond/you discuss the macbook, and the terms of the meetup the less likely its a scam!

1) Craigslist
2) Apple Store refurbished
3) Powermax(?) I see those ads on top of this forums
4) eBay (Not recommended but you might get lucky)

I would say either ebay, craigslist or directly from Apple's refurb store.

I just picked up a 1.86 ghz/120gb Rev. C from a local guy through craigslist for $1,000. Still under warranty with all original everything, like new. Pretty sweet deal.

I was also considering: http://cgi.ebay.com/Apple-MacBook-Air-MC233LL-A-1-86GHZ-2GB-120GB-Grade-A_W0QQitemZ360215522461QQcmdZViewItemQQptZApple_Laptops?hash=item53de84ac9d#ht_3412wt_941

With ebay bucks and Bing.com cash back that MBA on ebay is less than $1,000 for a Rev C with all accessories included (and i assume under warranty as the computer can't be more than 6 months old).

This same computer is $1,249 from apple with a 1 year warranty which is still a good deal.

You can find the same good deals on older Rev. A and B models for anywhere from $600 -$1,200. Some research and smart shopping will go a long way.
