As we all know, you can record or download your own warning noise and save them in the ~>library>sounds folder. I'm sure we've all gotten sick of the drip and sosumi sounds... what do you use?
Here's mine (http://pitythefoo.com/upload/userfiles/brian/ugg.aiff)
props to me for the noise.

It's an unlikely fusion of Johnny Carson and Jim Rome. Makes me smile every time.

Ok, I had this on my other computer and seeing this thread I tried to set it up again on my one at home, but for some reason it doesn't see the file in the sound control panel.
I put the file in the library>sound folder, but why won't it see it? Does it have to be in a special format?

Well, I don't know any free uploading services, but I'll tell you what it is anyway.
It's from the scene in South Park, where Cartman is impersonating a police officer, and is trying to arrest someone, he then yells "YOU WILL RESPECT MY AUTHORITY!!!!"

Which format is it in? One of the .wav's above?

Predictably I'd have these..
Once in a while I will switch to these two as well:

Barney (http://www.radonc.duke.edu/~yellow/burp.aiff)

I like my warning sounds completely off.
Though I will share with you guys my iTunes "Conversion complete" sound effect. It's about a 200KB audio file.

Nice, King Cobra. I'm with you there, I like my sounds almost entirely turned off, except for the new mail sound. I like how "pleasant" your iTunes sound is, that's how they all should be. I rode some of the trains in Japan, and they have the most pleasant "train arriving" sounds ever. I don't know why people don't put more thought into them.
I also have my cell phone on vibrate 100% of the time. If I could make a law, jesus!

have you tried firing up quicktime and converting it. im to lazy to try right now, nor do i have a wav file. if you can't do it just use mine, i find it satisfactory :) it's just not good for the work enviroment when you have external speakers on.

I guess I am in that "silent computer" group. If I want sounds, I will put in a CD. I even have a weird habit of playing games with the sounds off...
That said, I used to have HAL from 2001 as my error message on my PC - "I'm sorry Dave. I'm afraid i can't do that."

I'm sure nobody here will mind if you 'borrow' theirs. I rather enjoy having my computer scream at me when I accidently hit "enter" in Safari.

This is my main mail sound (http://www.geek.no/__ex/mail.wav) for my two school accounts (I am after all taking a Master's degree). For my personal account I use this one (http://www.geek.no/__ex/elvira.wav).
I don't have an answering machine/service at the moment, but when I get one I'll use this one (http://www.geek.no/__ex/clouseau.wav) as the message. :D

Step 1: Find the file on your hard drive.
Step 2: Upload it to a server.
Step 3: Post a link to it.
